Brett Bean practise

I thought I'd do some focused practise, and in order to help me doing so, I thought I'd select an artist to focus on for the rest of May and June month. I've recently seen the works of Brett Bean after having listened to a livestream - and I'd really wish for my own character designs and environments to have that fluidity, playfulness and daring shapes. This is what I attempt to practise at the moment.
As you can see on the sketches below, the proces was as follows:

- 4 warm-up sketches, from some of Brett Beans own artwork.
- Hence a caricature - reference photo from this great gallery - but it didn't felt pushed enough. The hair could have been an even bigger shape and enhanced more.
- Nextly another attempt at the same woman from a different angle - she ended up looking really mean!
- Finally another reference photo and a simple coloring beneath

This was a little about my current attempt at improving my character design. Have a great day!

Oh, and this was a little fun drawing Ser Jorah from Game of Thrones:

Lux - Steel Legion-skin in acrylic

Lux from the game League of Legends, here in her "Steel Legion skin" - the piece was made as a gift for a young friend of mine

Another thing I painted in acrylics recently. It's proving a challenge with acrylics especially making the brush behave like I want it to, get smooth transitions and generally working with the medium - but it's a lot of fun.

Selfstudy - update

Hey there! I wanted to throw a little update, since I'm currently working on a self-study at school. It's something I'm going to have time to dig into in periods, so I'll most likely have the finished proces and artwork ready to show some time in June. But for now I want to give a little peak of what the content will include, for instance these color-strips and color keys for an imaginary sequence, when the main characters discover an underworld civilization, living in air-bubbles.

More will follow, but this is it for now!

Colorpalettes

I saw "Un monstre A Paris" / A Monster in Paris with my sister the other day, and can definitely recommend other animation-movie interested people to watch it. It was sweet, looked beautiful and had some charming characters too. Shame it was not shown in danish cinemas.

Having watched the movie and its surprime color-combinations from Aurelien Predal made me want to sit down and just experiment colors myself. This is what came out of it!
