Tribute to 24 hours

After having spent...approximately 8 days of my life watching 24 hours with Jack Bauer - I felt I owed him a little tribute, so I felt like drawing Jack doing what he does second best; Yelling "WHERE IS IT?!"

Most of this picture is study from picture - but several things adjusted and changed to fit my interpretation

Patient sketches

Felt inspired to do some more pencildrawing, after listening to a podcast with Marko Djurdevic and looking at Wesley Burt's artwork. I noticed that in order for my own sketches to have that kind of detail, I'd have to spend more time on my drawings and be more patient in the proces. So here follows two sketches, being more "patient" than usual. They're screenstills from movies by the way, there's a great resource of movie stills on Framefilter

Visual Development Week

One week with Peter Chan of my favorite subject, concept design, lead into exploring what one is usually not comfortable with - so I dived into the world of cartoony, tight and simple. The task was to create three different character designs with varying shapes - and use those three characters to tell a story, creating a "moment" in a film.

Female reference study

Some more reference-study picture - this one being around 4 hours. I'm attempting to get a grasp on treating materials differently in the rendering-phase to make them look like what they are - I'd definitely like to do some more of these material-specific studies soon.

Lighting quickies

I'm recently starting to become more aware of lighting, and just how much it can influence and change your pictures - so I'm beginning to do some more quick lighting studies - quick I can hopefully benefit from when making my own pictures.

Sketchbook update

Mixed stuff from the sketchbook. The female mutant pencil-sketch will be taken further later on.
Was a lot of fun to pick up a pencilsketch (the creature with the yellow background) and color it out in Photoshop aswell - recently I've kind of subconsciously worked in either pure traditional or pure digital, rather than combining them. Enjoy.

"Delivery to the unknown"

"Delivery to the unknown"

Bigger resolution on this one than usual. Hopefully all the hours spent and the detail work was worth it - it's definitely one of the backgrounds I've taken the furthest lately. Enjoy!

Quick sketches

A little more quick sketches made during last week. First one's one of my friend's characters, a Norn female Mesmer (Guild Wars 2 beta). Second one's a rhino cartoon made from a referencepicture. Enjoy :)

Biped project - Sculpting in Mudbox

Status on Biped-project: Soon coming to an end! We're currently learning a bit of Mudbox and working with displacement, bump and texture maps in general - and after UV'ing some of my character's clothes, I finally got around to play with making some organic folds in Mudbox. I must honestly say, that making these organic folds feels much more natural to me, than cutting into your edgeflow in Maya and re-topologize everything, in order to "build" in the folds manually.

So first evening of clothes-sculpting:

The finished model and a turnaround from Mudbox should be ready sometime early next week - stay tuned :)

Small studies

Sleeping - 1 1/2 hour study

Two small quickie-studies today. Played around with the mixer brush tool on the bear - was interesting to see how this tool could give the picture a "wet" feel, in the areas I wanted.
