Character Design project - Mediterranean Villagers

Big character design-project for the time being. Theme being "Mediterranean Villagers".
First week was concept design with Uwe Heidschoetter. Our character had to fit into Jim Henson's muppet-style and stylewise fit with a given character our teacher had made (The Russian Lady) - which can be seen beside the character I designed in the first presentation-sheet.

First pictures: Reference and the concept of my character, The Olive Farmer.
Fourth picture: Finished concept of character + Environment in color.

Last picture: Work in progress picture of my 3d-environment in Maya. At the moment we're having three weeks of modelling & UV mapping with Eric Prince. Modelling of my character starts next week.

Bendy female + facestudy exercise

After 2 hours of struggle with Wacom-drivers at home I finally got going and was inspired to do something unusual, especially after having looked at Jeff Simpson's stuff. Also I had a picture of an elegant bendy female in my resource-folder I wished to create something out of, so here follows the result:

And here goes a little painting facestudy exercise:

Week 4 - Maquette and Character Design

Week 4 was with Julia Bracegirdle, doing all sort of various small projects. This included a quick silhuettefilm, Photoshop-collage (I made a rusty ol' car) and a bigger character design, originating from a soundclip from a children history we listened to. So here goes the rusty Photoshop-mockup, aswell as my wolf-character; The proces, maquette-pictures and two various PS mock-ups:

Also, I was in charge of taking care of a 17-year old intern-guy this week, which was also an experience for me personally. Next week's going to be more design-teaching, this time with an amazing teacher formerly mentioned on my blog, Lawrence Marvit. Updates next week!
